Art Scams Listings for the Artist
I've been receiving various forms of art scams through my e-mail since posting this site. These generally take the form of "Vanity Venues" in which some gallery or marketing company wants a lot of money up front from the poor artist for the privilege of exposing their work to their "clients". Of course there may be no real clients and no real sales. It's easy enough to spot them as they want large fees up front with no guarantee of sales or exposure. They ask only a small commission - they don't need one as they've already got their money from the artist up front! Here's a link that documents some of these scams and how they operate. Thanks to Robert Coane for providing this information to artists and to others posting information on the internet to alert artists to the bottom feeders.
